Efficiency in Building Design
Program Description:
Arol Wolford is a Building Information Modeling (BIM) pioneer and a passionate advocate for efficient building design. You and your principals and colleagues are invited to hear Arol speak on efficiency in building design at this month’s SDA Atlanta program.
Arol has dedicated his career to the proposition that sharing information among owners, architects, contractors, and manufacturers is the key to creating better, more efficient buildings. Arol is the founder and Executive Board Member of VIM. His vision for VIM is to provide a comprehensive view of the built environment by making building data accessible to all stakeholders. Arol founded Construction Market Data (CMD) and was an original board member of Revit Technology Corporation (acquired by Autodesk in 2002), which created the first parametric building modeler. In 2003, Arol founded SmartBIM, a creator of Revit Objects. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) named Arol an honorary member in 1997. In 2007 he was asked to serve on the AIA 150 Board, the first non-architect to be so honored. Arol serves on the board of several other firms that are at the forefront of using 3D visualization, information modeling and energy efficient building design to transform the A/E/C industry.
